The Association of Rheumatologists of Tamilnadu (ART) is the Tamilnadu chapter of The Indian Rheumatology Association (IRA) which is a professional organization of rheumatologists and other health professionals in India. This is a non-profit organisation.
This is a scientific society of Physicians and Paediatricians of Tamilnadu, who deal with the subject of rheumatology or musculo skeletal disorders. Arthritis and connective tissue diseases encompass the field of rheumatic disorders. Allied health professionals and orthopaedicians are associate members of this society.
The purpose of this society is to embark on a mission to develop rheumatology, a specialised field of Medicine in Tamilnadu. The twin targets are academics and patient education programs to reach young aspirants in the Medical field and for the public to get the best of medical practice based on scientific principles.
Though it was small group way back in 1986 started at Madras Medical College it was registered as a seperate society on the 10th of May 2006 at Chennai. This has grown as a cohesive group over the years carrying out its principles in its silent stride. Many CME programs, research funding, conducting national and international meetings have been under its flagship. Its annual meeting is usually conducted in the month of Augusr every year giving oppurtunity for the young minds a platform to show cause their abilities and contribution.
The feather in the cap this year is the launch of the E bulletin and a dedicated website for the members and the public. The society is vibrant and is certainly to grow in leaps and bounds in the years to come.
I take great pride in congratulating the members of Association of Rheumatologists of Tamilnadu on the inauguration of our own website. We have added another feather in our cap with this initiative.
This website will prove to be a convenient platform for communication amongst members of ART residing in different cities. The various activities going on in ART can be followed by Rheumatologists and other doctors in India and abroad.
We can utilize our website in spreading awareness of the numerous Rheumatologic diseases among general public. The website will be useful also in posting and sharing case discussions with pictures.
I request all the members to actively participate in sharing their Rheumatology related activities on our newly launched website for a knowledge enhancing experience.
